Since this jb has only one cartridge slot for loading cartridges, this unloading/loading one at a time via gui/command line is more interactive than just using the jb to unload the tapes, reload new tapes, and using nsrjb -IE to reset the jb.

Though next time I need to move a lot of tapes, I'll try this -d/-w routine and see if it really is more annoying.

When you just take cartridge out or put new ones in without using nsrjb -d/w, you are changing the state of the tape library away from what NetWorker's media database expects it to be. This is why you end up having to reset it via nsrjb -IE. If you follow best practices with loading and unloading cartridges, then you shouldn't need to use nsrjb -IE.
