When defining the new drive in Networker, you made sure to give it the
appropriate size per tape right?  I know on my CDL we had to define the
new drives as 395GB or else it was defaulting to 100GB......

This is not the case,
Because I was afraid something like this could be possible I used TOTALY
NEW TAPES Same problem here I knew this problem existed like you say But
this does not seem to be it

If you look at the tapes in particular, do the savesets have the
appropriate browse policy?  We ran into a similar issue here and found
that for whatever reason, some savesets were being retained beyond their
"normal" policy.  Therefore a tape that you think should be empty,
actually has multiple savesets on it from a while back.  We had to
manually go through and clear out these old savesets.

I reran jbconfig 2 or 3 times but did not think that that would do
anything with my savesets Why would this problem surface after one week
good operations ?
But what could I do to check this ?

It sounds like some of your savesets got messed up when introducing the
new tape drive.  Did you rerun jbconfig vs. sjisn commands to make sure
all scsi numbers were right?

EMC wont sent any timely support so let's see what happens if I post
this here

I have a problem with SDLT tapes being used for 1 to max 10 % of their
capacity (even if the tapes are brand new)

My site consists of 2 CX500 San's in mirror with a MSL5026 taperobot
This problem started one week after adding a second tape unit to the
robot The second tape unit had initial SCSI numbering problems but that
was fixed withing an hour I am running all this on Networker 7.1.2 and
Windows 2000/2003 servers

Now it seems that the tapes are not fully being used Any Help or idea is
welcom
