Not sure what method of load balancing are you specifically using , how 
have you configured the server and clients ?
Do you use ports based, address based, roun robin ? Do you team NIC's ?
Why not try one GB port with Jumbo Frames instead of utilizing two 
connections to see if that offers better performance ?
