OK,  I should know that by now...

Here's an idea.    Both the client and the server are still capable of
running that old protocol right?..  Something must be tricking them into
doing it, like a firewall or application blocking just port 7937 to the
server and its failing back to the old RPC way of doing things.

Peter,

Unfortunately it runs 7.3.2 jumbo 11 client As I am using networker from
the 5.1 days I know about the old way of doing things.
version 6 dropped the continuation saveset limit of 2 GB (unless you
force it with a manual limit yourself) thats why I do not understand
whats going on here
