Before I get started, thanks to Nico De Ranter for is off-line reply to
a previous query on this. I'd just like to put this out for general
consumption.
I've been carrying out some testing re the above from Solaris to Windows
2000 (NW 7.1.2 to 7.2.1). I've migrated the media database using
nsrmmdbasm, but this doesn't help with indexes - nsrck -L6 doesn't
rebuild them. So, just out of curiosity I tar'd one of the client
indexes and used Winzip to unpack it on the Windows box. Using NetWorker
User I can browse this client's index, mark files for recovery and get a
list of backup versions; I don't have a jukebox attached to the Windows
box at the moment so I can't test actually recovering the data.
Does anyone have any comments, warnings or whatever about this approach?
Am I setting myself up for a fall somewhere down the line when the
indexes (possibly) start to corrupt?
