We are looking at vmware consolidated backup  - Legato does have a script that 
is supposed to work along with the vmsnapshot - currently we use a third-party 
virtualization tool *Storeage SVM* to create daily snapshots of the vmdk files 
- and then backup all vm client drives using Legato.  We are looking at 
consolidated backup right now ..but haven't gotten far enough to be able to 
give you results.

Is anyone backing up EMC's vmware?

What is the best practice? To backup the vm main server and/or backup each
vm individually?

is there a legato plugin for vmware?

some of my vm instances have 300GB of data, so i don't want to back them up
twice.
