Thanks.
Further testing demonstrated that this is a problem unique to one of our
Networker servers / data zones. When we back the same NAS box up to a
different networker server, we can do a NAS file restore from my windows
PC using the "recover" CLI.
We are researching the differences between the networker data zones.
Legato case number is 17163756.

Subject: [Networker] Network Appliance NAS recovers
Hello,
I have done directed recovery of Netapp data as long as recovering to
Netapp only, i.e relocate data backed up on vol1\home\file to vol2
\restore, i usually, use GUI from networker server, never tried using
client and cmd line from a different machine, i am thinking networker
sees
that as non NDMP enviroment and fails.
Also make sure you have DAR enabled in Netapp client defination if
backing
up using NDMP, also you may have to specify /vol/restore when recovering
and not \vol\restore.
