A Jumbo patch is EMC's new way of providing bugfixes - inconsistent with the fine way that this has been done in the last few years.

Back in the dim and distant past Legato released versions of NetWorker, then released patches to go with them. This was always confusing because you could never be totally sure what patch level you were running just by looking at the GUI. Another source of confusion was whether or not any particular patch was cumulative or not. Often when there were two or three patches for a version it was necessary to download the base version plus several patches, taking longer to install and download.

After a while Legato sensibly decided that since most patches were virtually a full install it would make sense to remove the confusion by releasing NetWorker bugfixes as as full installs, thus the first maintenance release of 5.5.1 was made. The convention was that major new functionality would be introduced as version x.0 or x.5, lesser new functionality would be introduced by incrementing the second number (e.g. x.1, x.2, x.6), and maintenance releases would be x.y.z with NO new functionality introduced, just bugfixes.

Since EMC took over, these principles have been abandoned and darkness reigns once again. We now have new functionality being introduced in maintenance releases, and patches for maintenance releases. I don't know why this has been done - the previous system was perfectly workable and understandable.
