I have both 7.2.1 and 7.3.2 servers connected to NMC and I can confirm
that only the 7.3.2 server is available in the Drive Utilization report
- and it's rather nice to know IMO

No backup servers are listed while configuring this in our environment
as all of them are running 7.2.x. I guess the "Device usage" report is
based on the version of NetWorker server. Am I right in saying this
report applies only to 7.3 servers?

If you only want the additional reporting possibilities from 7.3 you
could also have it with lower releases. Our server is still running
under HPUX and
7.1.3 with the old console. We have installed on one solaris client
7.3.1 with the new console and reporting possibilities. So we have the
new console and the reporting possibilities without the risk of
upgrading. The only thing not working on this 7.3 client together with
the server is the save of
the console database.
