actually, the 7.3.1 version has a new database which is incompatible to
previous versions

I would not upgrade to 7.3.2 from 6.1. I would upgrade to 7.2.2 from
6.1. Let that run for awhile. If then you want to upgrade to 7.3.2 than
be my guest. 

You can downgrade from 7.3.2 from any previous release without a lot of
pain and suffering involved.
