Re: [Networker] bacula vs networker

As you mentioned, we are professionals that's why we should know when to stop
or move threads like this. There are other discussions before such as 'job
recruitment' in nature which my Manager is absolutely not happy in seeing such
(it's like a back door) because we are not allowed to browse job recruiting
websites while in the office.
There is one reply on this thread which I smell that it came from a SalesRep.
If you need to do a product/software research, use google and contact vendors
directly, if possible get a list of customers/clients and get their opinion
based on their experience (this is our standard practice in our work place).
Yes, this list is not run by EMC, but it is mainly intended for Networker
(that's why the list is called 'networker') related issues and discussions, not
sure if trying to scrap Networker for a different backup software is an issue
that needs to be discussed here.

I disagree. We're not so much Networker "drivers" as we are backups
professionals, and it's a good idea to know what the other products
are up to (example, what amanda can/cannot do wrt previous versions.)
The questions "bacula vs networker" fits here, and I don't mind seeing
that discussion fleshed out.
I wouldn't expect the GM sales guy to talk-up the Civic, but this list
isn't run by EMC, and that's one of the things that makes it so good.
If you and I are browsing through the dealership together, I'd hope
you'd steer me towards the Civic if it fit my needs better.
But, I think it's Stan's call. I know I've been guilty of talking up
other backups products recently.
