Once the EMC tech support contract is renewed you call them and they
walk you through the procedure.
EMC ended support for 6.1.x in January of 2005. I would be surprised
if they were willing to walk a customer (support contract or no) through
the migration procedure for 6.1. My guess is that they'll suggest an
upgrade to 7.3.2 (which might require an upgrade to 7.1.x/7.2.x first,
I'm not sure) followed by a migration.
