I've got an open case with EMC/Legato on this very subject.

I've got volumes with savesets that still show "browsable" although the
retention time (from your command) says they should have expired on 09/10/06.
There is one case of a volume with 4 savesets written on 6/10/06 (Quarter
retention). Two of the savesets show recyclable and the other 2 are browsable.

Well, they should expire automatically. Lets take a look at one of your
volumes a little more closely.

Run this command:
mminfo -av -q 'volume=BD4540L1' -r 'volume,written,volflags,volretent,state'

If the 'volretent' column has a date in the past (like 9/15/06), run
this command:

mminfo -av -q 'volume=BD4540L1,!ssrecycle' -r
'client,savetime,ssretent,ssflags,name'

If that second command doesn't return anything (no matches for query),
try running 'nsrim -X' and then run the commands again. Report output.
