Hello,
We have had extensive discusions related to Commvault, it has many
advantage over Networker.
1. Does have CLI that i have read about.
2. DR and replicated dB ( SQL) based is +.
3. Can resume broken backups from where they were left off.
4. Much more granular control over Tape managment ( Networker Weak Link),
based on Policies rather then pools, Tape Vault option may be required.
5. Drive Sharing avallable and from what CE says its superiour.
6. Reporting on backups, tapes and jobs etc is much more detail ( another
networker weak link which they have recently tried to address with freebie
reporting capability of useless networker utilites)
7. Cost advantage over networker -Any thing EMC is costly.
8. Can do Modules better then Networker, i.e HSM, SQL, Archiving, etc.
9. No need to cluster ( clustering avallable) with SQL master-slave server
concept-Media servers can be geographically spread out as well ( storage
node)
10. I can go on and on.
