We were seeing the same symptoms on 3 clients (2 of them W2K Cisco boxes, the 
other Linux). On the Cisco boxes, there was some sort of Cisco firewall that 
had allowed the old server in. The admin needed to modify that to let the new 
server in. On the Linux client, they had the name of the old server in the 
"server" file. When they took that out and restarted, things started happening 
correctly.

Networker Server 7.3.1 on RH 4 Update 3.
