Hello,
Hyperian and essbase are Financial dB\APPs that are primarily used to 
forcast\review and analize financial performance of the company, i do not 
have a specific information on a perticular backup, and our Hyperian sol is 
not well documented, we are in the process of doing so.
One advise, just like any other dB, dump or use tools to quiece the dB then 
backup, TEST and TEST.
One note, the dB or something on essbase seems to lock up during backup, so 
avoid running backup during production hrs, in our case , we have global 
presence so that was difficult.
You will find what is the best solution for it.
