Where did you restore the files to?  Original location or did you use a 
relocate command?  I have done a restore with DSA and it recovers the data 
with either the usual ndmp relocate:

               relocate   NDMPserver::/restore_dir/

                             or

               relocate   /restore_dir

amazingly they both worked with DSA restore, remember the relocate has to 
be to an NDMP server of same type, even though the tape might be read by a 
non-NDMP server which is acting as the DSA.
