Hi Alexander,

Index and Bootstrap are savesets of the backup server irrespective of which
client you are backing up and what the browse & retention policies are for
those clients.

You need to reduce the browse and retention policy of the client resources
being used for the backup server. Ex- if you keep the minimum retention
policy for your clients as 2 weeks, then the retention policy of client
resources of the backup server needs to be 2 weeks.

Networker marks tape expiration date as per the maximum retention policy set
for the savesets on that tape.

Subject: [Networker] Assign multiple policy to a single client

We use Networker 6.1.4 jn Solaris.

Our "old" backup job run with 1 month browse and retention policy.

I create "new" backup group (and new pool) with the new instances of
existing clients for backup with 1 year browse and retention policy.

After we run "new" backup job all work ok.

But tapes for "old" backup now have 1 year browse and retention policy too,
because index files on the tapes with "old" backup have 1 year policy
instead 1 month policy...

How to resolve this problem?

Then I try to return to old backup configuration and delete:
- "new" backup group,
- new instances of clients with 1 year policy,
- index of "new" backup.

And we modify the policy of index files in "old" backup to 1 month by using
nsrmm command.

Then I restart networker server and try to run "old" backup job.
But index files on the tapes with "old" backup have 1 year policy again...

How to resolve this problem?

Best regards,
Alexander
