In that case if you are not sharing the drives why unmount them at all. Let
networker unmount when a tape becomes full. If you need to unmount to send
tapes offsite and you have a script to identify what tapes to go offsite
just start the script with a nsrjb -u .

Kathleen-

This issue was just discussed a couple weeks ago, but it seems that we never
get everyone on the same page, so people still reply to questions like this
and say "oh, just use the idle device timeout." That answer is *wrong* for
most people.

Here's the deal: unless the jukebox devices are *shared* between multiple
storage nodes (including your server), the "Idle device timeout:" setting
DOES NOT APPLY.

That setting is *only* used for shared devices. For the situation where you
only have one system talking to the jukebox, the "Idle device timeout:" is
ignored.

This is clearly stated in the entry for "Idle Device Timeout" when you do a
"Help->On Window" with the "Jukeboxes" Window open in the UNIX Gui. I would
assume that the Windows Admin GUI has the same information.

The only way to do what you want to do in a non-shared jukebox environment
is to periodically (or after your backups finish) run nsrjb to unmount and
eject the tapes. That's what we do.
