Typically I use a single drive. i.e.
nsrjb -I -j"silo name here" -S "slot number or range 1-618 for example" -f
/dev/rmt/0cbn
This way I can select a drive that is not in use, and I wont use all 20
drives to do an inventory and lock down the silo from doing any backups.
As for inventorying a tape in use.... I have never seen this the
NetWorker sees it as a -* in the mount list, until you run an inventory on
it.

Subject: [Networker] Jukebox inventory
Good morning,
Just want to make sure if this is what it is really supposed to be or just
in our environment.
1. When I run 'inventory' using the GUI, it tries to unload the tape
mounted in the drive before it starts the process.
2 During inventory, if a tape is loaded in one of the drives, the
inventory will pause or stop and a pop up screen will appear to notify
that a tape is loaded and you have hit 'O.K.' to close the pop window and
it is only then the inventory will continue.
3. Tried to use the command line 'nsrjb -Iv', still it's trying to unload
tapes from the drives, so if there is a backup process going on and you
loaded a tape for a file restore, you cannot get that tape inventoried
because it cannot eject the tape which is currently busy writing.
Any comment or suggestion is appreciated.
Environment: Red Hat ES3 O/S, Networker server v7.1.3
Hardware: ADIC Scalar 100 with 2x LTO-2 drives
