Yes rename your Baton Rouge server to a DR name. Same name with say DR
attached. Restart Networker. Your licenses will not be invalid. You will
need to purchase new licenses for your DR server. Once you have renamed the
DR server you can bring your production server online. IF you need to bring
your production server online just stop networker on the DR server and power
down the DR server until you can do the rename.

Subject: [Networker] 2 Networker Servers, same name

We are now in the process of powering up our Data Center in New Orleans, and
thus, our original Networker Server.

Problem is, I have another Networker server, with that name, in Baton Rouge.
We have been using this server to do the restores and backups
since August 2005.

I will be placing a support call with EMC/Legato tomorrow, but I thought
that someone here might have some suggestions.

I know that I can't have 2 networker servers with the same name (or same
licenses). How do I address this?

For at least the next several months, we will be required to run both backup
servers, for both backups and restores.

With that said, I will need to move some of the tapes/media
indexes/information from Baton Rouge to New Orleans.

Can I simply rename by Baton Rouge server to another name - can it have
2 names?

As I understand it, if I restore an index that was in Baton Rouge, and try
to restore it in New Orleans, the backup servers have to have the same name,
correct?

Or can I restore an index from Server A, and put in on Server B?

Anyways, don't want to go on too much, but if anyone has any suggestions
with my dilemma , they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
