Tell that to people who use Cisco Catalyst switches connecting to
Sun's with the HME network card. If the sun boots before the switch
after a power hit, the HME side get confused and doesn't autonegotiate
properly.
Reboot the Sun box, or unplug/plug the network cable and it's work
fine again.
Autonegotiation is not a solved problem, though admittedly in this
case it's due to an older chipset still being out there in use.
