If OpenVMS does not see the devices, there is no way that NetWorker can see
them. This is a base OS issue, not a NetWorker issue.
There is a SYSMAN command to discover the devices have you done that?

Product: Networker for OpenVMS v.6.0.1-D
OS: OpenVMS 7.3.2
Hardware: Compaq Alpha DS-20
NetWorker 7.2.1 Server: Windows2k3 SP2
Issue: Configuring VMS storage node. "show devices" does not show any
fibre tape devices. HBA is Emulex LP10000 (HP# FCA2684)
When system is brought down to srm boot prompt and a "wwidmgr -show wwid -
full" is run all the wwn's of the devices show up.
When the system is booted thought the OS reports no new devices. There
should be 18-DLt7k's (Quantum DX100) 18LTO-2's(Quantum PX720) and 2 Library
controllers (robots). We have tried installing the pass thru driver
using "io connect gkc5/noadaptor/driver=sys$loadable_images:sys$gkdriver"
command but when we run the "jbconfig" command we get the follwoing error:
What kind of Jukebox are you installing? [1] 2
ww_libvms (748): scsi cmd error: %SYSTEM-F-TIMEOUT, device timeout
ww_libvms (748): scsi cmd error: %SYSTEM-F-TIMEOUT, device timeout
ww_libvms (748): scsi cmd error: %SYSTEM-F-TIMEOUT, device timeout
Unable to find any SCSI jukeboxes attached to this system.
SCSI libraries on an OpenVMS system are accessed through the
SCSI pass-through driver, sys$gkdriver. In order for this
program to find one of these libraries, you must first
create the GK device, as follows:
For devices that work with only one SCSI ID, the tape drive
is LUN 0 and the library (or loader) element is LUN 1.
Assuming the SCSI ID is 5, the device names are:
MKx500:
GKx501:
Where, x is the controller letter (A, B, C, etc.)
The MK device is created and configured automatically by
OpenVMS. To create the GK device, you must issue the
following command:
$ mcr sysman io connect -
_$ GKx501/noadapter/driver=sys$loadable_images:sys$gkdriver
For SCSI libraries that have multiple SCSI IDs, the GK
device must be created for the SCSI ID associated with the
library loader. Assuming this value is 2, you would use the
following command:
$ mcr sysman io connect -
_$ GKx200/noadapter/driver=sys$loadable_images:sys$gkdriver
Note in this case, the device is not GKx201, but GKx200
since the library control port is on a SCSI ID of its own.
Also, once again, "x" stands for the controller letter.
Please re-run this program when you have connected the SCSI
jukebox you want to install
Does anyone know of a SAN config program for OpenVMS?
Thanks,
Brian
