Our legato adv_file devices are on solaris 9 with ufs. I had a quick
look and saw many files bigger than 100GB if that helps.

When we tried with novell 4.21 clients they did split large savesets
into 2GB files as described in the article you quote.

This article is relevant for clients running an old version of the
client (v5.x). I'm wondering about a limit on the size of save sets
written to an advanced file type device on Solaris 9 with v7.1.3. Is
Legato "large file aware"?

Thanks.
Teresa

Subject: [Networker] advance file type question

Hi,

I'm reading through the documentation for advance file type devices in
preparation for defining one of these devices. The administrator's
guide says:

When using the advanced file type device, the upper limits of save

set size depend on the upper limits supported by your operating system
or the

file size specified by your disk device vendor.

We're running our NW server on Solaris 9 (v7.1.3 of NW). According to
information we have found, certain applications can create large files
(larger than 2 GB) only if they are "large file aware". Is NetWorker
"large file aware"? Or will the size of our save sets be restricted to
less than 2 GB?

Thanks.

Teresa
