Subject: [Networker] Fuji brand LTO-2

Has anybody have any problem/errors with Fuji brand tape cartridges?

Do you think it's time to try a different brand of tape? I can't see no
problem with the tape drives, both are now replaced and
firmware/microcode are also upgraded to the latest. The adapter and
drive SCSI drivers are also up to date and properly loaded in the
kernel.

Big question that still keeps Legato and Red Hat Tech. thinking and
still wondering why is that:
This tape drive or media error is only happening on our Unix backups and
nothing on Network backups, the only difference between the 2 pool is
compression. I even switched the drive - Unix is /dev/nst0 before and
now assigned to /dev/nst1, but still getting the same error/problems. So
the Fuji brand might have some issues with compression

We've been using Fuji LTO-2 for more than a year here with no errors or
issues. The only problems encountered have all been cable related.
Over the years I've encountered brand of drive versus brand of tape
issues. There are just some relationships that didn't work. I don't
know if that is still the case.

We are using HP Ultrium-2 SCSI drives in a Quantum M2500 library. OS
is Solaris 9. Clients are RHEL3, RHEL4, Mac OS X, Solaris 7, 9, & 10.
