we once had exactly the same two problems, reason was that someone edited the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControllSet(xxx)\Controll\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup

You also can get these values via programs - accessories - system tools -
backup and there Tools - Options - Exclude Files

In our case these values there were empty.

Compare this reg-key with a maschine on which backup runs properly

Thanks to Klaus, this partly solved my problem.

It seems the NtFrs entry in this registry branch is causing the problem. If I remove the underscore (_) from this entry, the messages are gone.
so far so good.

However, I am still having problems with backing up .log files. I found out that it seems to be only in C:\windows\system32\dhcp. I tried removing all entries from the registry branch above (after exporting them ;-) ), but that didn't help at all.

any thoughts?

greetings,

Dennis

Betreff: [Networker] save: Setup of skip directive for '' failed

Since I upgraded the server and clients of our second location to networker 7.2.1 I have problems with 2 of the w2k3 systems:

-----
* nrgaad1.arh.nrgnet.intra:C:\ save: Setup of skip directive for '' failed
   nrgaad1.arh.nrgnet.intra: C:\ level=incr, 138 MB 00:03:23 307 files
* nrgaad1.arh.nrgnet.intra:E:\ save: Setup of skip directive for '' failed
   nrgaad1.arh.nrgnet.intra: E:\ level=incr, 5573 KB 00:00:08 225 files
* nrgaad1.arh.nrgnet.intra:F:\ save: Setup of skip directive for '' failed
   nrgaad1.arh.nrgnet.intra: F:\ level=incr, 7 KB 00:00:05 6 files

-----

2 other w2k3 systems don't have these messages.

The server-side directives are empty (and all 4 systems use them), there are no client-side directives (no networkr.cfg and no nsr.dir files). I removed the networker client, deleted the entire c:\program files\legato tree, and reinstalled the 7.2.1 client, but that didn't help.

Also, it seems like .log files don't get backed up, whatever I try. I even tried 'save -i -l full *.log' in a directory which actually contains .log files, but no files are backed up. If I rename one of the files to .txt, it does get backed up.

It seems that somewhere are still some directives, but I can't find where...

any ideas?

Thanks

Dennis
