Ok, so the saved data is not reorganized, so that one client is one stream of
data and not interrupted by other clients which are saving on the same device.
That would be a nice feature, because if I have to restore a directory with
many files, the tape-device has to wind forward to reach the next file, because
a second client has put his file(s) between. If the backup-streams would be
reorganized so that one session after the other is staged onto the tape such a
restore would be (much) faster.

Cu, florian

Hi Florian,

Backup-to-disk allows you to use a disk type device as your backup device and
label the folder as backup media.

You can later stage the data to tapes. If backup data size is large, staging
may need multiple tapes.

hi@all

I have bought the backup-to-disk license from legato, but I have'nt found
anything to the following:

Does backup-to-disk reorganise data on disk, so that the data which is staged
afterwards to the tapes is not splitted in pieces, which occours when more than
one server is saving to one tape.

Thx, florian
