In regard to: [Networker] Problem with a tape label, Stan Horwitz said (at...:
After I got to work this morning, I tried to manually label the troublesome
tape with nsrjb -L and it failed. NetWorker said the tape was already labeled.
If you run the admin gui and add a `-v' to the command line of nsrjb, when
you do the `-L', either in the terminal or in the GUI messages area you
should see a message about what NetWorker read for a tape label.
How do I resolve this issue remotely? I know there's a way to identify the
printed label on a tape, but damned if I don't remember how. I tried "nsrjb
-p" but that also complained about the "unknown pool."
I would load (but not mount) the volume and read the first file off the
tape using dd:
$ sudo nsrjb -v -l -n -S 220 -f /dev/nst2
$ sudo dd if=/dev/nst2 of=/tmp/label bs=128k
$ od -t c /tmp/label
The pool and label for the volume I tested with are at about position 360
(hex) in the output.
