Vince,
We had a case open with Legato for months because we were unable to get
a successful backup of our Exchange Public Folders.... We were seeing
errors similar to yours. The problem turned out to be that our PF
database was so large, it was exhausting memory on the Exchanger Server
client. We were finally able to get a successful backup of the entire DB
by listing the top-level folders in the save set specs like this:
MSEXCH:PF/Public Folders/Asia-Pacific
MSEXCH:PF/Public Folders/Europe
MSEXCH:PF/Public Folders/Microsoft_Info
MSEXCH:PF/Public Folders/North America
MSEXCH:PF/Public Folders/South America
MSEXCH:PF/Public Folders/World Wide/Quota Outlook Interface
MSEXCH:PF/Public Folders/World Wide/.....

We basically started drilling down the tree until we reached a level
where it succeeded, then stopped and used that as a save-set
specification... Since the upper level folders are pretty static, we
should not have to change the save-set specifications... It's been
working fine ever since, but took us a few months of waiting on
Legato/Microsoft while they scratched their heads trying to figure out
why it was failing (we also discovered MS does not really support PF
backups...). You might see if you can isolate the error to a specific
folder to see if it might be bad data, etc...

Regards,
Paul

Server: NetWorker 7.1.2.325 under Solaris 8
Client: Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server

Dear Gurus,

I've checked the archives and can't anything to do with this problem. We
have recently started getting an error when backing up the Public
Folders of our Exchange server, specifically:

* mailsvr:MSEXCH:PF Starting backup of folder tree: "Public Folders"
* mailsvr:MSEXCH:PF mbpfsv(1038): Folder tree backup failed for
http://MAILSVR/public/  Error: 0x80040e19
* mailsvr:MSEXCH:PF  COM error: 0x80040e19
* mailsvr:MSEXCH:PF   Source: Provider
* mailsvr:MSEXCH:PF Description: Object or data matching the name,
range, or selection criteria was not found within the scope of this
operation.
* mailsvr:MSEXCH:PF  svmain(930): process_pf_backup() failed with status
= 0x80040e19
* mailsvr:MSEXCH:PF Backup operation finished with errors.

Has anyone else seen this? Do you have any idea what the cause is or
how to fix it?

Best Regards,

Vince
