Hi,

Sorry, forgot to mention that before I managed to get the recovered
client to boot at all it came up with a message, something to the effect
of "Windows 2000 could not boot due to hard disk configuration
problems".
I regularly see this when I recover windows boxes to different hardware.
What you should try next is:
- boot from the Windows CD
- if it asks, say that you want to install Windows and not to repair it
- it should detect your installed Windows and now ask if it should repair
it, say yes here
This worked fine several times here. I guess the most important thing is
that the HAL does not change. If it was "ACPI multiprocessor", then the new
system should also use this HAL.
Our Exchange (2000) server is sitting on the third hardware by now (Intel P3
server -> Intel Xeon server -> Dell 2650) and is still running fine.
