Dear NetWorker Gurus,

I'm trying to come up with a disaster recovery plan for recovering
Windows clients to machines of a different spec. - you can't always
expect to lay your hands on a replacement that's exactly the same as the
one that's just blown up can you :o|

As far as I can glean from the NetWorker 7.1 Disaster Recovery doc. and
our NetWorker support (Not Legato) you can recover an entire system
backup of a client to another machine, reboot and be back up and
running. However, during testing I tried to recover a client to another
machine of a different spec. (drive designations, IP address and network
ID the same and at least the same amount of disk space as the original)
the recovered machine hung during reboot - watching as it booted in safe
mode (with networking) it got as far as loading mup.sys then froze. The
data files don't cause any real problems, but if I recover the SYSTEM
FILES, SYSTEM DB and SYSTEM STATE it all goes pear-shaped on reboot.

Does anyone else have experience of this sort of scenario? I'd
appreciate any advice or comments anyone might have.

Best Regards,

Vince
