We were just fighting this issue.  We had widows, linux and unix clients
reporting that they lost connection to the server.  We are runnung 7.1.3
on a linux server.

After running strace on the nsrmmd daemon we found it died when it
reached the ulimit file size setting.  We added ulimit -f unlimited to
the networker startup script and all is happy now.
