Hello Vince et al,

We have tried to make scheduling of MSEXCH:MB backups a little easier in
Exchange Module 4.1 by providing a basic 'wildcard' function combined with
an 'exclude' file (which works like an include file but excludes items).

Under NMEx 4.1, an input file to backup mailboxes whose display names start
with A through E, one would create this input file:

MSEXCH:MB/A*
MSEXCH:MB/B*
MSEXCH:MB/C*
MSEXCH:MB/D*
MSEXCH:MB/E*

Create one NetWorker Client Entry, using this input file, and you are saving
A-E. Create four or so other input files for the rest of the alphabet
'chunks' for other mailboxes, each with its own unique Client Entry. Put
all of the Client Entries in one NetWorker Group, and you have a
multiprocessed operation, where you need not modify input files as users and
their mailboxes come and go.

If you have mailboxes that start with numbers, or with non-English
characters, you can create another Client Entry that uses an exclude file
which lists A through Z, with an include file that lists all mailboxes
(MSEXCH:MB).

You can create as many processes as you like, subject to NetWorker's
parallelism, etc, with the caveat that too many of these processes at once
can likely bring your Exchange Server to its knees. We did hear from one
member in this list, several years ago, who ran 20 MB save processes at
once; that is probably more than most mail admins will want.

Hope that this helps,
_Scott
