I worked a contract to relocate 17 data centers early last year. While
working there they needed an instanced data destruction of a few hundred
hard drives.

We took the drives to the local auto smash/recycler. We were looking for
a way to smash a bunch at a time.

He introduced us to his decimator 2000. That machine would take a 1976
Chevrolet Caprice Station Wagon in one side and cut, sort and spit out
metal chunks on the other side the size of a dime.

He let us put all those boxes and boxes of hard drives in the seat of
one of the cars and we were able to watch from the viewing stand the
death of their data.

It was very impressive, I liken it to the kids tapes of big machines
(Cranes, Bull dozers, earth movers and pavers) we all snorted drank
coffee and swapped lies while watching this awesome spectacle!
