CompressASM can also impact the network speed as save.exe reads data off the client disks, compresses and then sends across the wire. If you are backing up something highly compressible, like a SQL backup container, etc. the speeds will be very slow as the compression step is the bottleneck.

Is the 1.7TB all in one saveset? Any chance you could split it into separate savesets that are backed up simultaneously? This would throw more data at the DBO destination, and may improve your disk throughput.

We currently run Legato Networker 7.1.3 on Windows, i was wondering what
writing speed other people get when writing to disk as our full backup runs
for 36 hours and writes 1.7 terabytes which is a writing speed average of
13.75 Mb per seceond which i thought is rather slow, i thought to disk i
should get over 20Mb easy. Could people reply with there comments and
speeds.
