Dre,
Start with turning off the XP firewall.
If it still fails, run a manual backup in debug mode, and that might help
with the error.
eg: save -D2 "SYSTEM STATE:"
I've found solutions to errors with that...also, make sure to search the
Microsoft Knowledgebase with whatever you find in the -D2 output.

Hi,
I am trying to backup my laptop on to an external hard drive using Networker
7.2 on a Windows XP Media Centre Edition SP2 system. I am getting the error:
"Registry - Cannot save Registry key SOFTWARE: 0x000005aa"
I have gone through the Legato Knowledgebase and have tried changing the
nsrexecd service to run as Administrator however it has not helped. I am
still getting this problem.
I was running 7.1.1 prior to this and thought I would upgrade to 7.2 to see
if the problem went away. On 7.1.1 the error message was:
"Registry - Cannot save Registry key SOFTWARE: 0x00000006"
I understand that running Networker server on Windows XP is probably not
supported but would that be causing this problem or have I missed something
else? Everything else is backing up perfectly and I have done many restore
tests to make sure it is doing it properly. If it is only because of XP that
is causing this problem I accept this, but if it shouldnt be XP causing this
problem then I would be very happy to get a "working" albeit unsupported
system.
Can anyone help me with this issue please????
