Good question, and this is a situation that has occurred several times
in NetWorker history.

It's a question of bugfixes versus features. Legato Engineering has
different teams working on different codebases. At some point they need
to split the codebase to develop new features for a new release - this
is 7.2 in this case, which has new NDMP features amongst other things.
At the same time there is another team continually producing bugfixes in
response to issues experienced by users in the field - this is 7.1.3,
and this is known as a maintenance release. At some point, the bugfixes
in 7.1.3 (7.1.4?) will be rolled in to the 7.2.x tree and from then on
it will become the recommended release.

A similar situation occurred with 5.7 / 5.5.x as well as 6.2 / 6.1.x.
5.2 was single platform as was 4.7.
