[Networker] Tapes getting marked as "full" when not used?

I've had a strange occurance the past two nights.

Networker 7.1.2 running on RedHat AS2.1, with a SAN-connected PowerVault132T with two SDLT320 drives. Two Windows Servers as Dedicated StorageNodes and Dynamic Drive Sharing.

The past two nights, I've gotten the following message from one of thestorage nodes:

Mar 23 03:33:54 cranes logger: NetWorker media: (warning)rd=winnode2:\\.\Tape1 opening: Warning: tape drive \\.\Tape1 requirescleaning

Mar 23 03:34:34 cranes last message repeated 2 times
Mar 23 03:34:34 cranes last message repeated 2 times

Mar 23 03:34:34 cranes logger: NetWorker media: (info) write open error:The device has indicated that cleaning is required before furtheroperations are attempted.

It then seems to go through every tape available and marks them all"full" after mounting them. If I manually set them back to "appendable",the backups continue without issue or errors.

The PowerVault is supposed to be managing its own cleaning...should Ichange that to let Networker do it?
