I did an rpcinfo -p and it showed nothing, even after fixing the -s flags, not even on localhost.

nsrexecd has had it's own portmapper for some time. It listens on a different port, obviously, so rpcinfo cannot find it.

So.... how come it shows up in rpcinfo when I run the client on FreeBSD 4.x?

Thanks for a useful pice of the puzzle tho!

If portmap is running when nsrexecd is started, it will register with the existing portmap as well as starting its own.
