I was seeing the exact same thing with rpcinfo -p with my FreeBSD
5.2.1 clients. I had to set rpcbind to use the -i flag for it to work.
Weird.
The reason it was not working was due to me having mucked up the -s
flags. It is fine now with -s servername - the -i is not necessary.
However I got sidetracked when I did an rpcinfo -p and it showed
nothing, even after fixing the -s flags, not even on localhost.
It was while I was troubleshooting that I noticed that Networker had
actually started backing up the client in question.
Now, even while Networker is successfully backing up the client rpcinfo
-p shows nothing on the client, not even from localhost.
Thanks to another tip I tried started nsrexecd with -D 5 and got this error:
bsd53# /usr/local/nsr/bin/nsrexecd -i -D 5
nsrexecd: fullpath follow_path returns `/usr/local/nsr/bin/nsrexecd'

But it is still working fine for backups and restores and the
connections show up with netstat while the backup is running.
If I run the above command line on a 4.10 machine it is quite different:
bsd4x# /usr/local/nsr/bin/nsrexecd -i -D 5
nsrexecd: fullpath follow_path returns `/usr/local/nsr/bin/nsrexecd'
