I personally consider this cheating, but it works well enough in most cases:

ls -lt /nsr/index/<clientname>/db6/*.k0 | head -1

Note that it doesn't really tell you when the last backup occurred but the
last time the client index was updated. You may not have backed up anything
useful at the time listed. But, it works even if NetWorker happens to be
down at the time you do the query.
