Hello again,

Sorry for not explaining in better detail, I will try to be more
specific here:

We are running exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 platform, we also have
the exchange module version 4.01 installed.

We are using Legato Networker 4.1.2 also running on Windows 2003 server.
The issue we were having was regarding the backups of the Public Folders
in Exchange. We would get the following two error sets interchangeably:

All other aspects of Exchange would backup with out any issues however
when it came to backing up Public folders we had no luck. We had many
conferences with Microsoft and Legato attempting to get to the bottom of
this with both parties blaming the other for the longest time (Over a
year). Finally yesterday we were able to get the resolution with
Microsoft releasing the hot fix for Exchange.

I hope this helps, any other questions or if you need any further
explanation please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thank you,

Joseph Rasamny

with Legato

What exactly was the problem you were having, what were the symptoms,

errors, etc.?

Can you supply more details on the configuration your were having

difficulty with...ala..

- What OS is the Exchange Server was running on?

- What is the Exchange Version?

- What NetWorker Version are you running and what platform?

- Were you using the Exchange Module, if so, what version?

Just for my own edification more than anything.

Cheers,

Jim

Legato

Hello all,

It's a Festivus mircale!

For those of you who have struggled to find a way to successfully backup

Microsoft Exchange public folders I have the solution! After over a year

of my company dealing with Microsoft and Legato, Microsoft has finally

acknowleged the issue was caused from their end and has released a Hot

fix; it is located in Microsofts article KB 886811.

The hot fix is not yet posted to the public but anyone can call

Microsoft up and they will send them a free link to it. We have applied

this patch and Public Folders were backed up successfully.

Good luck,

Joe.
