when we upgraded to x2k3 we had to change the savesets and this is the
syntax legato had us use. i believe we also had the syntax you currently
have when we were backing up x5.5. the fact that your backups were
working after the initial upgrade and prior to migrating public folders
is somewhat troubling though.

My setup on a unix server has the save sets as:

MSEXCH:IS
MSEXCH:DS

and I use "nsrxchsv.exe" in the "backup command" field rather than
leaving it blank.

Then I set up a second client setup with the same name, and all the
local save sets

C:\
D:\
SYSTEM STATE:\
SYSTEM DB:\
SYSTEM FILES:\

and I leave the backup command field blank. I also run them in
different backup windows, to avoid potential conflicts.

seems to work on exchange 5.5 anyway.

in the "save set" field (we are a windows environment - unix may differ)

of the client, you need:
MSEXCH: for the databases, and
MSEXCH:MB for mailboxes

hope this gets you going again

Hello all,

Two days ago our backups on our Exchange 2003 server stopped working. We

have recently installed Exchange 2003 on a Windows 2003 box. The night
the first backup failed we were migrating our public folders from the
5.5 server to the new 2003 server. The 5.5 server wasn't being backed up

as we were using it's licence to backup the 2003 server (this had been
working for a about a week). I can successfully make a backup is I start

it from the client software on Exchange, it is the groups that is
failing.

This is the log of the attempted backup

that helps.

Thanks
