We have a similar config with the exception that we have AlphaStor in the mix.
We have no issues sharing devices between NDMP and traditional NetWorker. I
don't know if DDS within NetWorker would make a difference. When you define
the devices in the jukebox you just have to specify that the drives the Celerra
sees are NDMP.

When creating pools, your NDMP jobs MUST write to different volumes than
traditional NetWorker volumes, so you need a NetWorker tape pool for you
"regular" devices and an NDMP tape pool for your NDMP devices. Other than
that, I think you should be OK. If anyone knows whether DDS makes a diff,
please correct me.

Just my $0.02, hope it helps.

Cheers,
Jim

Subject: [Networker] NDMP Question

Hi all,

        Only any question about NDMP

       1. Imagine that you have an actual enviroment:

                        Legato Netowrker 7.1.2 (W2K)
STK library L 40 with 2 drives LTO. This library is
configurated to the Networker server in a SAN environment.

Now, you add a new NAS in your environment, and you want run a
NDMP backup for this Celerra.

Is it possible with a NDMP Tape Server software installed in your Legato
Networker server, will work with the same drive with NDMP Backup and "normal"
backup ?

And if it´s possible then ..

Is it necessary configure the library with DDS, and is it mandatory
that the Celerra NAS can see the drive ?

I can not use a drive only for NDMP backup. I need run mixed backup to the
drive/s.

Any suggestion

Thanks in advance

Rgds,

David
