I have unmounted the tape. I have stopped/restarted networker server. I
have tried using nwrecover from the client. I have tried the documented
procedure from the server's nwadmin tool. Whether the tape is mounted or
unmounted, once it is mounted, the busy message starts and repeats every 30
seconds indicating a retry. The nwadmin main window repeats that the tape
is mounted and that reading is done every 30 seconds. I have even performed
a backup in between these restore attempts. So far, the only thing I
haven't tried is the command line recover direct, which is next.

I'm on NW7.1.2. SUN on both boxes, server is Solaris 9, client is Solaris
7. The jb is Quantum M1500 LTO-2.

Rapidly running out of ideas and getting concerned about the ability of NW
to perform full recoveries when needed,
Patti

Patti,

Try unmounting the tape...then retry your recover.

Are you 6.x.x or 7.x.x?

We've seen similar issues under 6.1.4.

I am getting a message that the NSR server is busy when attempting to
use
nwrecover. I was successful at recovering files from the last full
backup
and was attempting to pull files from the next level 5 backup when the
busy
message occurs. NSR server is idle, the tape is mounted, and then every
30
seconds the idle message is produced. The recover never proceeds beyond
this point. I even closed the nwrecover client session and restarted it
with the same results. What am I missing here?
