Hi,

We're encountering difficulties when attempting to restore Exchange 5.5
(IS/DS) save sets. Specifically our tape devices report "reading, moving
forward xx file(s)" for approximately 1-1.5 hours, after which we will see
the message "media warning: \\.\TapeX moving: fsf 47: drive status is The
tape drive is ready for use". We've let this run for a few hours and this
process appears to repeat itself.

The backup groups are reported as successfully finished, and we are able
to restore save sets (generally Unix, Linux and Windows clients) from the
same media containing Exchange 5.5 save sets. There are no errors
reported when accessing the tape and I believe the fast seek entries on
the tape are valid as restores of other types of save sets occur quite
quickly and without any issues.

The infrastructure consists of a Windows 2003-based NetWorker 7.2 server,
Overland Neo 4000 and 2000 libraries with SDLT 320 and 220 tape drives and
FC connectivity between the server and libraries. The Exchange 5.5 client
is currently configured to backup over the LAN using the BusinesSuite
Module 2.0 (update 6) for Exchange.

Searching the archives, I have located a thread labelled "Exchange hangs
during recover" but have not been able to see a conclusion to it. Has
anyone encountered similar issues and/or know of potential resolutions?
Any information would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Oliver
