Unfortunately, no.  'retention' is an attribute of a saveset, not of an
instance.  So all instances have the same retention.

This could change in the future.  It used to be almost impossible for
separate client instances to have different retentions, but that's now
much easier.

Right now, I'd set the retention to the total time you want to keep it
(a month), and manually delete the disk instances with a script.

You could have your script verify that the instance it's deleting isn't
the only instance for the saveset.

The problem with manual deletion is that it's much harder to handle
"cycles".  Do you want to delete the on-disk full now that it's over a
week old if there are incrementals less than a week old depending on it?
