Then use the later suggestion of running 'nsradmin' and having it kick
off the savegroup.  You would still need to authorize the client to be
able to launch backups like this.

Nope, that's backwards.  The client can talk to the server via
nsradmin->nsrd.  The server talks to the client via nsrexec->nsrexecd.

The "server" also runs an nsrexecd, but that's just for the client-like
things that machine does, not to communicate with the backup server.
