No, not quite, but the datastream is opaque to networker (or to any
other NDMP server).  The idea is that the NDMP client can send whatever
format for the data wants to.  The backup server just shoves the stream
on a tape.

My understanding is that the directives are interpreted by the networker
client.  Since there's no networker client on the netapp, the directives
don't work.

Presumably, directives or something like them could become part of the
NDMP spec for NDMP clients to support, but I believe they do not today.

However, page 564 of the adminguide for 7.1 seems to indicate that you
can do something similar.  In the client resource, you can enter data in
the Application Information attribute.  For Netapps, you can specify
"EXCLUDE=" and list exclusions.  With wildcards, you should be able to
exclude the directories you want.

Sorry, I forgot what version of Networker you were using if you
mentioned it before.
