Hi Allen & Manel,

I Just want to mention that continuing a "hatled" savegroup means that
all mountpoints which have
been in backup-progress will be re-started (not continued) again.
So if e.g. an novell-client has a 400 GB mountpoint and ist backup is
close to 80% it'll be restarted
at nil. (but Who the hack is backing up 400 GB Novell-partitions...;-).
Just to avoid bad surprise.
On the other hand, there must be a damned good reason for shuting down
ALL servers on a single
command.

Regards Thorsten

Manel,

You can look for active savegrp processes and if present run...

nsr_shutdown -c -s

This will stop all savegrp and nsrexec processes (-s option) and will
save
the worklist of what savesets were active (-c option). The "-c"
option
should allow you to restart the savegrps where they left off. These
options
will *not* shutdown the networker deamons.

Not sure about detecting a recover unless it is local. "recover"
process or
"nwrecover" for the GUI.

I'm assuming UNIX is the platform.

Subject: [Networker] Script to automatically detect a backup/recover
and
stop them?

Hello,

My company is in the process of implement an automatic shutdown system
for
all the machines. This system needs to execute an script in every
machine.
This script will be customized to stop the processes in the correct
order
and then shutdown the machine.

I have an script that eject the tapes in the tape drives and then
stops
NetWorker. After this I can shutdown the machine without problems. But
now,
the question is: what's the easiest manner to see if the server is
doing a
machine or recover and stop them?

After the backup/recover is stopped I can eject the tapes and shutdown
NetWorker in the same manner than before. Any idea about this?

Thank you very much!
